After innumerable success with the introduction of the McGriddles to Hong Kong, McDonald’s is riding the viral wave with the makeover of a Wan Chai store into WcDonald’s, inspired by Japanese manga.

Having featured first in the 1981 manga Cat’s Eyes, and dozens of Japanese anime, video games, novels, and manga since, the fictitious restaurant chain WcDonald’s is Japan’s answer to the world’s beloved Maccies.

Open till Aug. 31, the new WcDonald’s store next to the Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai has been revamped with funky Japanese manga characters and art on the walls and windows, with the upside down ‘Wc’ logo featured on almost every surface of the restaurant.

Bring your Instagram and make sure to peep your eyes on the Japanese characters lining the restaurant, as well as the Japanese posters replacing the old art of the Wan Chai store.

The global WcDonald’s initiative began in early February, launching stores in more than 30 countries to bring Japan’s fictitious restaurant to life.
