We first discovered the Hainan chicken rice cake, and now, we are onto the next eccentric cake coming out of Hong Kong: the Thai-style mango sticky rice cake (HKD498).
Brought to us by Thai-owned Asok Thai Cake shop, who operate stores in Harbour City, Central Market, and The Southside, their mango sticky rice cake is stocked in a lineup of three Thai 3D birthday cakes available to order in-store and on their website.
The mango sticky rice cake is made with mochi, coloured precisely to match the vibrant Thai dessert. Coconut mousse and sponge cake are used to craft the rice and glutinous coconut pour. Half of a mango placed on top of the cake lends a final touch for a balanced sweet dessert, suitable for four to six people to gorge on.
If mango is not your thing, Asok Thai Cake also sells a durian mochi cake (HKD680) and a coconut mochi cake (HKD628), both suitable for five to eight people.
