Leela – new modern Indian restaurant in Causeway Bay by Chef Manav Tuli

Chef Manav Tuli

When Chef Manav Tuli departed Michelin-starred CHAAT at Rosewood Hong Kong earlier this year, we wondered with bated breath where the renowned Indian chef would turn up next, either in the 852 or beyond. Now, the wait is over, and lucky for us, the chef is headlining his very own eatery – Leela – at Lee Garden Three in Causeway Bay, a partnership with JIA Group. At Leela, guests can expect a whimsical culinary journey that pays homage to India’s most influential empires, with a particular focus on the Maurya Empire of around 300 BCE. Sustainability is also a key feature of the restaurant, even in terms of the menu itself, which is made from recycled corn. Local pork, seafood and vegetables are used whenever possible, and the spices, lentils and millets are sourced from a trusted organic and GMO-free Indian supplier. Open for dinner from Tuesday the 7th.

This branch is helmed by Executive Chinese Chef Hsu Ping Chiu, who previously led the kitchen at three-starred T’ang Court.

Moving from China to Southeast Asia, there’s a spot for Cloud Nine Hotpot, which showcases seven signature Southeast Asian-inspired hotpot broths (shout-out to the Thai tom yum goong, Nyonya laksa and Vietnamese beef bone). Finally, refined Sichuan specialist Qi – House of Sichuan is set to join its neighbours later in the month.
