If you’re in search of authentic Filipino food and cocktails with a modern twist, Dara in Sai Ying Pun is calling for your next salty, spicy, and sour meal.
The Filipino restaurant and bar landed on the scene in late 2022 with the goal of delivering delicacies from the Philippines’ culinary capital, Pampanga. The Central Luzon region lays claim to famously creating the dish sisig, sold at Dara.
Dara’s dinner menu is packed with hearty Filipino dishes, strong with vinegar, soy sauce, pork, chicken, and spice. Sink your teeth into the peanutty kare kareng baka (HKD158), sizzling sisig (HKD128), tuna kinilaw (HKD128), and coconut-strong vegetarian curry ginataang gulay (HKD118). Pair your meal with Dara’s simple yet strong garlic rice (HKD28) and isaw (HKD78/5pcs) chicken skewers.
If you’re in the mood to drink, their signature cocktails embrace the classics with Filipino twists. The calamansi margarita (HKD108), pandan negroni (HKD108), and Chocnutini (HKD118) hit the spot.
And on their lunch menu, we typically order the beef tapsilog (HKD98) and isdasilog (HKD98), with additions of lumpiang Shanghai (HKD78) and turon halo-halo (HKD78).
In December 2023, the restaurant reopened in a new Sai Ying Pun location down the road from their inaugural spot, yet the vibes and food and drink quality have remained unmatched. Ask the staff about karaoke, typically hosted at night when the drinks flow.
