Whether we’re chowing down at home with friends and fam or out and about enjoying a splashy restaurant meal, we’re grateful for the diverse range of Thanksgiving dining options in Hong Kong this year. Now, it’s time for us to talk turkey!

Dang Wen Li

Dang Wen Li Thanksgiving

Pies, here! Get your pies, here! If baking isn’t your thing (or, like most of us, your HK flat doesn’t have an oven) and you’re tasked with bringing dessert for Thanksgiving dinner, Dang Wen Li’s limited-edition holiday pies are just the ticket. The traditional flavours with a twist include caramelised pecan and salted caramel apple. Or, if you’re on the lookout for something savoury to bring to a Thanksgiving potluck or picnic, the braised chicken pot pie sounds equally scrumptious.

How much: caramelised pecan pie – HK$298; salted caramel apple pie – HK$268; braised chicken pot pie – HK$268

HENRY at Rosewood Hong Kong

HENRY Thanksgiving

Sometimes we don’t want a gut-busting spread for Thanksgiving, but we still crave a bit of festive culinary flair. This Thanksgiving, sophisticated smokehouse HENRY is featuring a selection of à-la-carte dinner specials that have us drooling – crab Louie (salad of king crab, cherry tomato “candy” and Little Gem lettuce), onion soup topped with puff pastry, herb-roasted confit turkey leg, smoked prime rib and pumpkin crème brûlée. No need to commit to the whole lot…

Where: 5/F, Rosewood Hong Kong, Victoria Dockside, 18 Salisbury Road, TST

When: 23 November 2023, from 6pm

La Paloma

La Paloma Thanksgiving

The culinary traditions of Spain and the USA unite at La Paloma for this dine-in Thanksgiving dinner menu. A selection of decadent tapas for sharing (prawns flambéed with brandy, anyone?) kick off the meal in sensational Spanish style, followed by a “sexy” main of wood-roasted organic turkey with all the trimmings (seven sides, to be precise). Dessert – pumpkin and pecan pie with vanilla ice cream – is a fitting tribute to ‘Merica. A meal at La Paloma isn’t complete for us without a round of sangria, so the free-flow package is a must (it’s a holiday, after all!).

Where: 1/F, SoHo 189, 189 Queen’s Road West, Sai Ying Pun

When: 23 November 2023, from 6pm

MâmAmis

MâmAmis Thanksgiving

It makes a nice change to switch things up from time to time, veering from tradition with unexpected flavours, so we love the sound of newcomer MâmAmis’ vibrant Vietnamese alternatives. For the full Monty, the eatery is offering two takeaway packages – both featuring a roasted turkey marinated in Vietnamese herbs, with one trumping the other with half a roasted suckling pig added to the bunch. If you opt for the turkey-only set, the sides are more traditional (think mashed purple sweet potatoes with roasted garlic and roasted carrots with dill), but there’s also a cranberry sauce kicked up with sriracha and a classic Vietnamese dessert to round off the meal. The suckling pig set comes with all of the above, plus an assortment of authentic Vietnamese bites (shout-out to the aromatic betel-leaf rolls with Wagyu and refreshing pomelo salad), alongside a bottle of red or white wine.

Another fun Thanksgiving option offered up by MamAmis is to drop by the eatery for a roasted turkey banh mi or bowl of roasted turkey pho and really give your taste buds a run for their money.

Read our recent review of MâmAmis and find out why it’s quickly become a reliable Foodie fave.

Woolly Pig HK

Woolly Pig HK Thanksgiving

The star of the takeaway Thanksgiving menu by the folks over at Woolly Pig Concepts (either pick up at HUE Dining or INK or arrange your own delivery) is a “gold standard” turkey from Norbest Ranch in Utah. The golden, juicy, brined and herb-smoked turkey is accompanied by down-home sides including sourdough gravy, pork, apple and sage stuffing, mascarpone and brown butter whipped potatoes, maple-glazed heritage carrots, Brussels sprouts with bacon and caramelised chestnuts and and cornbread pudding with jalapeño and Cheddar. And if that’s still not enough to warrant some trouser unbuttoning, a whole burnt pumpkin pie and eight mini pecan pies will surely do the trick.

Where: HUE Dining – 1/F, Hong Kong Museum of Art, 10 Salisbury Road, TST; INK – G/F, Hong Kong Museum of Art, 10 Salisbury Road, TST

When: 18–25 November 2023

How much: HK$3,000 (6–8kg turkey serves 8–10); delivery fees apply

To order: order online until 15 November
