An Instagram video released yesterday on April Fools’ Day by IKEA Hong Kong has been seen by many as a funny prank. The video animation sees the meeting of a cute egg and tomato falling out of a gumball machine, leaving many IKEA-lovers guessing if a new product is coming to the IKEA Bistro, or simply if they are the fool.

However, the official Instagram page of IKEA was quick to confirm that, yes, a wacky Chiu Chow-inspired Tomato Scrambled Eggs Sundae (番茄炒蛋) will be available for diners to try at IKEA Bistros citywide.

“It seems like everyone is curious about the tomato scrambled eggs made by Editor’s mum (how peculiar),” reads the caption on the Instagram post.

“Therefore, we cordially invited Mum to personally cook and prepare a delicious Chiu Chow-style frozen dish called ‘Tomato Scrambled Eggs Sundae’ for everyone to enjoy!”

The post even includes a disclaimer: “If you don’t enjoy the dish, please don’t blame my mum. Blame me instead!”

The Tomato Scrambled Eggs Sundae is available until tomorrow, Apr. 3, at every IKEA Bistro location in Hong Kong, with the exception of the Sha Tin branch. Don’t sleep on this one!
