If you’re in the mood for a hot bowl of beef broth, bouncy rice noodles, and very expensive beef, head to Fong Wing Kee (方榮記) in Kowloon City to try Hong Kong’s most expensive bowl of noodles at HKD480.

The neighbourhood spot specialises in beef noodle bowls, wontons, crab and seafood specialities, and hotpot, yet their premium beef soup bowl of noodles is what has many people twisting their heads.

The reason why the beef bowl is so expensive is due to the long-simmered beef stock, brought to an umami explosion with bones and parts from Australian cattle, and the cut of beef used. Beef shank – the rarest cut of all, with only two pieces per animal – is sliced up and dunked into the bowl for a very premium taste.

Lettuce, vermicelli , and touches of soy sauce and chilli oil are added to top off Hong Kong’s most expensive bowl of noodles.

The bowl was recently featured by Sonny on the popular food-documentary YouTube channel Best Ever Food Review Show, so you know it’s good!
