Pastis French Bistro, a Soho staple, will be closing its doors on Aug. 31 after 15 years of cooking bistro-style French food and serving up French wine and beer.

The laid-back French bistro was founded in 2009 by restaurateur Olivier Caisson, offering a slice of France in Hong Kong. The restaurant served as a homely venue for classic French dishes and a drinking haunt after sunset.

Olivier cites economic challenges in the city leading to the decision to close this coming Saturday.

Despite the closure of Pastis and, in February, Metropolitain in Sai Ying Pun, another venue in Pastis Group, Olivier tells Foodie that he intends to reopen Pastis in a new location in order to continue the story of the legendary venue in Hong Kong.

Rubin Verebes is the Managing Editor of Foodie, the guiding force behind the magazine's delectable stories. With a knack for cooking up mouthwatering profiles, crafting immersive restaurant reviews, and dishing out tasty features, Rubin tells the great stories of Hong Kong's dining scene.
