In anticipation of the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024 live awards ceremony in Seoul on Mar. 26, where the top 50 restaurants across Asia will be ranked according to influential F&B industry figures from around the region, the organisation has released its extended list of the best 51–100 eateries in Asia that are also very worthy of recognition. This year, there are 12 newcomers to the 51–100 list, representing 16 cities in Asia.

Headlining this year’s extended list at number 51 is Tokyo’s L’Effervescence by Shinobu Namae. This French fine-diner is no stranger to the affection of Asia’s 50 Best, coming in at number 44 last year, bagging the inaugural Sustainable Restaurant Award in Asia in 2018, and rising 29 places in 2021 to earn the Highest Climber Award. In 2023, chef Shinobu also received individual recognition for his pioneering culinary work, taking home the Icon Award.

Tokyo and Singapore lead the 51–100 pack, grabbing eight spots each and two and three new entries respectively. Following not far behind is Bangkok, with seven restaurants, including one new entry, on the list.

Notably for Hong Kong, the city’s Michelin-starred Shanghainese restaurant Xin Rong Ji is sky-high on the extended list, coming in at number 52 and jumping an incredible 47 spots from last year, when it ranked at 99.

In total, six Hong Kong restaurants have placed on the 2024 extended list, a drop from eight in 2023. The remaining Hong Kong eateries making the cut this year include Ta Vie (55), VEA (68), Estro (71), GODENYA (88), and Howard’s Gourmet (100) – one of the 12 new entries.

The Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024 awards ceremony will be live-streamed on Asia’s 50 Best page and YouTube channel, starting at 20:00 KST on Mar. 26. Let the grand countdown commence!
